Texans' safety is at risk!

Ophthalmologists are physicians. Optometrists aren't.

Texas law protects patients by making sure that only ophthalmologists perform eye surgery, write prescriptions for narcotics, and diagnose and treat glaucoma.

These critical safeguards are at risk because big-monied special interests are calling for Texas to lower the standards for eye care.

Putting lasers, scalpels, or prescription pads in the hands of optometrists — who do not have medical degrees — could put the eyesight of thousands of Texans at risk.

Will you help us stop special interests from lowering Texas’ standards for medical eye care?
